Youth Fellowship

The Youth Ministry program includes a fellowship group every Sunday,  evening from 7:00 -8:30 pm, September – May, for 6th – 12th graders. Students meet year-round for trips and special events that include visits to amusement parks, camping at Kirkwood in the Poconos, hayrides, and various mission activities monthly. All young people are invited and encouraged to participate. We believe that all young people should be nurtured and supported in the church so that they continue their journey with Christ Jesus.

Reach out to (215) 794-8575 for more information.

“…The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”  Matthew 13:31-32

Youth Group News

Fun and faith nurturing things are happening every other Sunday evening, 6:30 – 8:00, for those in grades 7-12. Our next meeting will be held on January 8 and then again on January 22. January 8 will be a regular meeting focusing on the new year.

On January 22 the group go out into the community to “Build a Hoagie.” Going to different members of the congregation’s homes and working for their meal, the group will gather the food stuff to build an awesome hoagie that they will share. As the Apostle Paul said, “There are a variety of gifts, but the same Spirit.” There are a variety of gifts/food, but the same Spirit/Hoagie.

Looking toward February, on the 5th, the group will be challenged by testing their problem solving skills in an escape room. Due to the time restrictions, the group will meet at the church at 5:45 PM and will return by 8:00 PM. The cost is $25. Friends are welcome, but please contact Pastor Su if you are going and if you will bring a friend.

Confirmation Class for Eighth and Ninth Graders

A life of faith is one in which we wrestle with big questions, including questions of who we are, who God is, and how the two intersect and exist in, and with, each other. Reflection is necessary through-out life as we deal with this foundational search for meaning.

As an adolescent this search for meaning is particularly powerful. This time of growth and possibility brims with many important questions, including these: Where am I going? What is the world about? How do I know what to do with this moment and the time ahead of me?

Confirmation seeks to provide enough space to be able to ask these questions of God, of ourselves, of each other and of the church. Using scripture, our church creeds and history will be tools used to help grow in faith and come to a deeper understanding of what it means to personally be a follower of Jesus.

Class will be led by Pastor Su and begins in January. Please contact her if you have any questions or if you wish to have your youth join the class. Culmination of the course study will take place in May on Pentecost Sunday when those who wish will be confirmed and become a member of the Forest Grove congregation.
